Peces de piscifactoría: el paraíso de los “pozos negros”

Actualizado el 9 de junio de 2023Debido a la creciente necesidad de marisco y pescado y al hecho de que todo nuestro océano se está agotando, la mayoría de los peces, si no todos, serán de piscifactoría. En la actualidad, más de la mitad del pescado es de piscifactoría. El Banco Mundial calcula que en 2030 alrededor de dos tercios de todo el marisco será de piscifactoría. Los peces de piscifactoría más comunes son la tilapia, el salmón, el siluro, la lubina y el bacalao.
Los peces de piscifactoría tienen hasta diez veces más contaminantes.
Muestras de salmón de piscifactoría han demostrado que contiene ocho veces más PCB que el salmón salvaje, cuatro veces más que la carne de vacuno comercial y 3,5 veces más que otros mariscos. En un par de estudios analizaron más de 700 muestras de salmón de todo el mundo. La mayoría de estas toxinas se almacenan en la grasa del pescado.
Lo mismo ocurre si comparamos la carne de caza con la carne de animales de granja.
Gran parte de los contaminantes proceden de los alimentos que se dan a los peces de piscifactoría. La alimentación es la misma que la de otros animales de granja y si el pollo y el cerdo tienen bioacumulación de COP (contaminantes orgánicos persistentes) también la tendrían los peces, pero como los peces están encerrados en tanques de agua la situación empeora porque entonces los peces empiezan a acumular también los contaminantes del agua.
Los desechos de los peces y los piensos no consumidos caen al fondo de las piscifactorías y empiezan a descomponerse.
Las piscifactorías de salmón de tamaño medio producen una cantidad de excrementos equivalente a las aguas residuales de una ciudad de diez mil habitantes. Es el caldo de cultivo de bacterias que consumen oxígeno, y el oxígeno es vital para los animales marinos, especialmente los mariscos y otras criaturas marinas que viven en el fondo. Además, las Los excrementos de los propios animales se utilizan como alimento para peces.
Los pollos sólo utilizan hasta el 30% de los nutrientes de su pienso. Eso significa que el 70% de los nutrientes siguen estando en sus excrementos. Los peces pueden comer esos excrementos y absorber todas las proteínas, carbohidratos, vitaminas y minerales restantes. Estos excrementos, si no se comen, también caen y se depositan en el fondo. Luego, con el tiempo, se desarrollarán larvas de insectos, y los peces se comerán las larvas que están llenas de contaminantes de los propios excrementos. No sólo eso, sino que el traslado de los excrementos de los cerdos también es una práctica habitual. Se trata de una técnica de diseño económicamente racional conocida como ganadería-piscicultura integrada. Los desechos de pollos, patos y cerdos se transfieren directamente a las piscifactorías. Peces como la tilapia y la carpa utilizan el plancton como fuente primaria de alimento. Si la dosificación es correcta, el estiércol dará un gran impulso al crecimiento del plancton en las libras. Esta fertilización de los estanques mejorará drásticamente el crecimiento de los peces y su nivel de toxicidad.
Porque en las piscifactorías los peces no comen alimentos silvestres sólo los piensos que les faltan astaxantina. La astaxantina es un pigmento rojo de las algas que éstas utilizan como defensa contra la luz ultravioleta y representan uno de los más potentes antioxidantes en los hábitats marinos. El color rosa del salmón y, por ejemplo, el color rosa de los flamencos rosas son consecuencia del consumo de astaxantina. Los flamencos rosas nacen blancos. En condiciones de cría, los peces carecen de una gran variedad de fitoquímicos que comerán de forma natural en el océano, por lo que se les añaden colorantes. Al salmón de piscifactoría se le añade regularmente colorante. Die es producido sintéticamente carotenoide astaxantina que se utiliza como colorante. Incluso tiene diferentes tonalidades que van desde el rosa carofila de Roche al rosa lucantina de BASF. Estos colorantes son una estafa. No tienen ningún propósito. Su única función es engañarle a usted, el consumidor, haciéndole creer que el producto es de aspecto natural, saludable y sabroso.
Además de los residuos de la cría, las condiciones de hacinamiento en las que se encuentran estos peces los hacen más susceptibles a las enfermedades. Puede compararse con la cría habitual, que es un caldo de cultivo para infecciones y parásitos. En el océano, los peces están dispersos y las infecciones suelen ser mínimas. En los cebaderos oceánicos densamente poblados, las enfermedades y los parásitos pueden proliferar. Para hacer frente a estas condiciones, los peces de piscifactoría se vacunan como pececillos. Tras la vacunación, los peces reciben siempre antibióticos y pesticidas. Uno de los problemas más importantes para la industria son los piojos de mar. En la naturaleza no suelen ser problemáticos, pero en las peceras es una historia totalmente distinta. A la primera señal de un brote, los piscicultores añaden grandes cantidades de pesticidas a los piensos.
Como se alimentan con piensos para peces, también carecen de ácidos grasos omega tres. Los peces salvajes obtienen los omega 3 de las algas. Los piensos para peces no son más que harina de pescado molida y proteínas vegetales mezcladas con la ayuda de aglutinantes como el trigo. En todos los tipos de pescado examinados, la cantidad de grasas omega-3 era considerablemente mayor en los peces salvajes. Por lo general, el pescado de piscifactoría es más barato, contiene entre un 10 y un 30% más de grasa que el pescado salvaje (y no se trata de ácidos grasos omega-3, como regurgita la propaganda, sino simplemente de grasa, de la que ya se obtiene demasiada), con un nivel más alto de toxicidad y un nivel más bajo, si acaso, de ácidos omega-3.
